Big Girl Bed!!

Well before the baby comes this summer I have some goals set for us to accomplish with Aspen. One was get her out of the crib and into a big girl bed. I was scared if I waited until the baby came to move her it would be harder because she might be mad at the baby for taking her crib. (That is the way she is if any of you know her personality) I was also nervous that since she was able to climb in and out the big bed by herself she would like to get up a lot. I was wrong, she has done great. It has been about a week now and she only got up once. My little girl is growing up! My next 2 things are to get rid of her pacifier, which is going to be the biggest challenge. She is so attached to that. So if any of you have any great suggestions let me know. I think I am going to do cold turkey and just have my life be awful for a week. Then comes the potty training, I am thinking I will try to start that early summer, but I guess it is really when she decides she is ready. Wish me luck everyone. I have one down and two to go. Here is Aspens big girl bed. She loves it, which was a definite plus. The child even wears her hooded sweatshirts to bed! Now we just need to get rid of that thing in her mouth.

Aspen will probably revert to not being potty trained when the baby comes even if you get her trained. I would say try it out and if she resists, don't worry until after the baby is born. For the pacifier, we did cold turkey for alivia and she was fine but I have heard that if your cut off the tips then they don't like them anymore. She's pretty smart though, she might get mad at you:)Maybe get her a special sippy cup to take to bed with her that doesn't leak so she has something to replace it for the hard time.

That picture of Aspen in the bed is so cute. I can't believe she wears hoods to bed. Does she do that every night?

WOW!!!! I love the bed!!! Brielle, it is soooo cute! I love the room, it really looks nice. Where did you find the cute bedding?

Brittney and I were thinking maybe we would go in and get you baby boy bedding as a gift... what do you think? If you want to shop around and tell us what you want....

Congrats Aspen on being such a big girl! I think you are too cute and I love that you wear a hoodie to bed :o)

Aspen's bed is soo cute. We're getting ready to move Porter out of his crib too. I just hope he does as well as Aspen did. Good luck getting rid of the binky!

That quilt on Aspen's new big girl bed is so cute! I thought I would never get Kyler off his binki either. I got a pair of scissors and let him cut the end of his binki off and every time he asked for it I gave him the cut one and said yucky. It worked in one day. He even found a whole one the next day and brought it to me saying Yucky! That's how I did it with Kyler. Good luck!

I did the same thing for Gavin...cut the tip. When he put it in his mouth he didn't really like it so I had him throw it away in our garbage outside so no going and getting it out. Surprisingly he did really good too. Cried for it once and then that was it. Aspen may surprise you and be totally fine. Don't worry though, Avery still has hers and I too am dreading getting rid of it. GOOD LUCK!

So I heard of an idea I thought was really cute. I haven't done it because we ditch the binky and bottles at 12 months-too young to try this but it's an idea. One mom got a large helium balloon and tied the binkies to it. She told the girl she was so big that it was time to send them to another baby. They all counted to three and let the balloon go waving and shouting goodbye. Cute. Once they were gone- they were gone. Who knows.

The sweatshirt to bed thing is hilarious! I thought I really loved hooded sweatshirts...but my affinity for them doesn't hold a candle to Aspen's!!!!

Let me know how "Operation Lose the Binky" goes...we're about to embark on that as well and I could some tips too!
